8 Top Tips For Becoming A Professional Gambler In Horse Racing, Poker And Other Sports

March 8th, 2010

Most folk are under the belief that professional gamblers have one bet, play one game of poker, or various other form of gambling, and then collect the winnings and go back to their big mansion for a few months rest, before having another gamble!

I pray it was like that, but in legitimate life it is extremely different. I personally work 10-12 hours a day, 360 days a year, and still do a bit on the days off, including Christmas day. When you see professional poker players they are spending 3-5 days at a table in a tournament every week, sometimes sitting for 12 hours, and when they are not doing that, they are at home playing poker on the computer.

So if you are looking for a simple life, do not take up betting as a profession. Yes it can pay well, very well, but you need to put in a lot of work, and it can be 2-3 years before you are making any meaningful money. Anyone who tells you otherwise is possibly lying just to get your money.

When you see tipping advertisers stating things like “We made $26,000 to $100 stakes in the last 12 months”, it looks breathtaking. However, they need to receive your attention as a 1/8th ad in a paper costs around $500, and they need that funds back before turning a profit. And how numerous average gamblers have $100 to bet, especially when you need a betting bank, and with $100 stakes, the cash you need before you even place one bet is around $3,500, any less and you can easily blow it all. Then divide the $26,000 by the $100 to work out how many and various points you make a year, and that is 260, then divide by 52 to see how countless points profit a week, and that comes to 5pts a week. Wow!! If you are just starting off you are likely to only be using a realistic $5, so that is $25 a week average. That may not sound much but you have to learn to walk before you can run. If you cannot profit with 10c bets, how the hell will you profit with $100 bets?

Also think why various tipsters advertise every day. This is because they have such a high turnover; they need to keep replenishing the customer base. This does not always mean the tipster is rubbish, in most cases they may be profitable long term, but the average Joe Punter always wants profit NOW and every day, and average Joe points more than 5 points per week, whereas a full time professional would be happy with that.

If you are going to gamble to profit, then for the first few months this should be your conditioning were you will be doing a lot of work for little return, but you will also learn how to handle losing runs, how to cope with mistakes, and if it does all go improper and you lose the betting bank, you should have learnt a lot from it for as little loss as possible, as you should only ever bet what you can afford to lose, especially while proving to yourself you can profit. You may have a spare $10,000 available, but prove you can profit with a $1000 bank original, and then add to the bank monthly.

So here are the 8 tips you need to learn, and stick to religiously if you want to stand a chance of ever profiting from gaming.

1. Patience: If you want big profits now, try the lottery. Building up you betting banks takes time a lot of time.

2. Betting Banks: If you do not have a betting bank to beginning with, and you are just betting from whatever is in your pocket, you will never make a profit. It is as simple as that. Most punters lie to themselves that they are breaking even. Do not do that, be truthful.

3. Staking: You see betting plans for sale on EBay, most of them may make you a few dollars quickly, but it is 100% guaranteed they will bust your bank as these are designed by amateurs who have no understanding of betting maths in the actual world. Always inception with levels, if you cannot make bankroll with that simple staking plan you will not make bankroll with anything more complicated. Once you have proven over a few months you can turn a profit with level stakes, and then you can switch to each bet being between 1%-3% of the bank. Most professionals will start at 3%, but get it down to 1% as the bank grows.

4. Bank Management: Managing banks is not just staking, it also involves listing every bet on a spreadsheet so you can monitor things like average odds, strike rate, losing runs, etc. If you do not list every bet, you will have no idea where you stand, and no way of having data to look back and learn from.

5. Risk Management: Most people follow one tipster, or one system. This is usually suicide, you do not see the big boys in the city markets investing everything in one stock do you? No. They spread it around, and so should you. Use a number of systems, proven tipsters, method bets, etc. And ensure you have a separate betting bank for each (you can use the same betting account, as the spreadsheets you keep will advise you the amount which is in each bank).

6. Alcohol: NEVER drink while betting, you will bet more than you should, you will bust banks, you will play bets you would never do when sober.

7. Forums: Join a forum where you can percentage ideas, this can prove a huge aid, but make sure it is a decent one, and not full of idiots just spouting off how good they are!

8. Fun Bets: You are often told not to do any ‘fun bets’ if you pray to turn professional, but this will not happen, as it is hard to break old habits at maiden. The best way to treat fun bets is to handle them as you would any pro bets. Separate betting bank, list all bets, and it will not be long before you lose the bank and realize how wonderful your own tipping is!

This advice goes for betting in any country, on horse racing, greyhounds, soccer, NFL, poker, etc.

You can also find countless free horse racing systems, staking systems, poker systems, on the internet, ignore them, they are only free for a reason, as they lose bankroll.

These days it is possible to receive horse racing software, poker software, etc that can help you, they will only make you money if you are already doing so, they just enhance your skills, not make them. Search the web for reviews on every product before parting with any money; ask people on forums which software is the best.

Real Madrid Struggles But Wins Over Zaragoza 2-0

March 7th, 2010

Last Sunday Real Madrid got back their advantage of seven points as well as the leadership of the Spanish Liga rankings, but the team struggled during great part of the game against Real Zaragoza before winning 2-0 at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.

Real Madrid’s accurate effectiveness gave the team the advantage at the 65th minute thanks to the Dutch Ruud van Nistelrooy; practically the first clear attack in all the game; followed by a goal from the Brazilian Robinho assuring the locals triumph.

The game’s top player was with no doubt Real Madrid’ goalkeeper Iker Casillas. The visiting team dominated the game for more than one hour, but without any effectiveness due to Casillas’ outstanding performance.

Madrid extended their perfect record playing at home and keep heading the championship with 44 points, seven points above FC Barcelona; team that won last Sunday’s game as well against the Real Mallorca. In third position is the Espanyol after their victory on Saturday against the Villarreal as locals, and in fourth place the Atlético de Madrid.

The Catalonian team is just one point behind Barça; these teams continue the battle closely following the steps of the Real Madrid.

Despite; Real Madrid’s laborious triumph against Zaragoza there was a black spot which concerns the team; the Argentinean defense Gabriel Heinze suffered a thigh tear and will have to remain inactive during at least three weeks.

In other games of the day, Real Valladolid beat 3-0 the Getafe as the visitor, Racing de Santander won 1-0 over Atlético de Bilbao at home and Real Murcia surpassed by 2-0 the Osasuna like locals. In the meantime, Recreativo de Huelva and Almería draw 1-1.

The Atlético celebrated a remarkable defeat 3-0 against the “Depor” as visitors, headed by Diego Forlán and Sergio Aguero. Forlán assured to change the scoreboard at the 6th minute after the break.

On the other hand, the Argentinean Aguero did shine on the field in a display of talent to add a spectacular goal. And only 12 minutes later midfielder Jurado set the final figures after the local defense could not clear a corner shot.

Types of Online Casino Bonuses

March 6th, 2010

One of the best reasons that players take to online gambling is the idea of enjoying casino bonuses. While traditional land-based casino perks such as free drinks and meals obviously cannot fit into the world of internet gaming, wagering websites still manage to attract and reward customers by offering them lucrative bonuses.

Online players can be forgiven for getting slightly confused about all the different bonuses and promotions available in the industry. After all, the hype and marketing campaigns surrounding the different kinds of bonuses are enough to make anyone question exactly what type they should take advantage of and how much they will benefit from a certain promotion. For that reason, it is absolutely imperative that gamblers have a clear understanding of the different kinds available and make informed, educated decisions regarding their choices.

Welcome Bonuses

Welcome bonuses are exactly as their name implies – a bonus that welcomes players to a particular online casino. Welcome (or ’sign-up’ bonuses) are the online casino’s way to attract players onto their site and try their casino. With so many online casinos out there, it is important that welcome bonuses manage to catch the player’s eye with more-than-generous offers and conditions. Many times, players may feel that the offer is TOO good to be true; however, it is certainly worth checking out every promotion as most sites genuinely are offering great terms simply for players to try out their casinos. There are several types of welcome bonuses, the two most common being a match bonus and a no-deposit bonus.

A match bonus means that the online casino will match the player’s first deposit by a certain percentage, usually up to a certain amount of money. So, for example, if a site offers a 100% match bonus up to $100, the player needs to deposit up to $100 and will automatically be rewarded with another $100 (or 100% of the initial deposit) to spend at their gaming sessions. This is a great way of doubling one’s playing time at the online casino and therefore putting oneself in line to win more.

A no-deposit bonus is an incredibly lucrative deal that is not offered at all sites. Simply put, players do not have to make any initial deposit at the site after registering. Instead, they will automatically be rewarded with credits to start their gaming session. As with all bonuses, it is important that players read the terms and conditions of these type of promotions carefully.

Monthly Bonuses

Once players have tried a particular online casino with the use of the welcome bonuses and enjoy the games and features, the chances are that they will continue playing at the casino over a length of time. To make sure that players actually do come back for more, sites reward returning customers with generous monthly bonuses – so called because they are usually offered on a monthly basis. These bonuses are also known as reload bonuses because they kick in when players reload their accounts at the online casino. The monthly bonus is usually awarded on a percentage basis, for example 20% of the amount that player spends funding his or her account.

High-Roller Bonuses

Obviously, online casinos are keen to attract players who invest large amounts on their online gaming entertainment. As such, these players, known as high rollers, are rewarded extra amounts for depositing and playing at online casinos. High rollers also enjoy unique promotions, VIP clubs and other perks to make their stay as rewarding and worthwhile as possible.

Payment Method Bonuses

Good online casinos offer a wide range of payment methods through which players can deposit and withdraw their funds. Some sites want to encourage players to use a certain payment method (such as Click2Pay or Moneybookers) and therefore offer players an extra 10 or 15% additional bonus simply for using these methods.

Online Casino Bonuses

As can be seen, there are many types of bonuses to choose from in the online casino industry. The trick is to learn about all of these as much as possible and then pick one (or several) that suit the player’s specific gaming requirements and lifestyle. In the end, the bonus should serve the players well and should not make them spend more than they initially set out to. When all is said and done, online casino bonuses are one of the best reasons to try out internet gaming.

Lottery Syndicates – The Pros and Cons

March 5th, 2010

Everyone wants to win the lottery don’t they? I know I do. Groups of people who all want to win the lottery often pool their money together to create a syndicate. This increases the chance of one of them winning. Of course they would have to share the profits, so you are never going to get that big jackpot, but in my opinion even a smaller win would be very useful.

There are two ways you can get started in a syndicate.

  1. You can join a syndicate that already exists. You may be able to find one from your local newsagent and there are some great ones online.
  2. You can start your own with family and friends.

One of the downsides of a syndicate with family and friends could be future arguments if one of your tickets were to win. Make sure you have an agreement written up to state exactly how the money will be split. You will also need to make sure you manage your syndicate properly. You can do this with software or a spreadsheet. Keep track of how many little wins you have. You will not want to divide these up until they have accumulated to something bigger.

If you are joining someone else’s syndicate make sure you do your research. Virtual World Direct is a good reputable online syndicate to get you started.

Another pro of joining a syndicate is that they allow you to play lotteries from all over the world. By joining an online syndicate you can easily play the British lottery even if you live in the USA.
