Best Destinations to Play Roulette

Friday, July 3rd, 2009

Most serious gamblers who have been playing for some years know roulette’s basics thoroughly. For some however, learning to play roulette for the first time can be challenging as well as overwhelming. If you get a grip on the odds and strategies, it’s pretty easy to play this game.

As popularity of online casino has grown over the years, the availability of roulette online has also increased. There are a number of free roulette games that can prove extremely beneficial to beginners who have just started playing roulette or are thinking about playing it. One website that offers free tutorials as well as free roulette games with the chance of winning real money is GoldenPalace.com.

Most experts agree that Las Vegas remains the best place to play roulette. Las Vegas is still the primary spot for high-rolling gamblers to play in the US and around the world. Roulette is one of the most popular games among players coming to Las Vegas. However, playing roulette in a real casino is a lot different than the online version. Casinos apply distracting strategies so that you end up loosing concentration on the game and ultimately loosing. Their distractive ways are versatile and extremely effective to say the least. Having said that playing roulette at a real casino is a lot of fun. It offers an exciting party atmosphere. Drinks, food, laughter, friends and fun are what drags people to real casinos.

Without a doubt, playing roulette at an online casino as well as playing it in a real land based casino offer a lot of excitement and fun. It is the wisdom of many casino visitors that Las Vegas is the best location for playing roulette.

How to Play Texas Holdem

Thursday, July 2nd, 2009

Texas Hold’em has become a very popular game. If you don’t know how to play, you are missing out on an enjoyable pastime as well as some great entertainment on television. Whether you want to play Texas Hold’em with your friends for money, or you want to understand what’s going on in a celebrity Texas Hold’em tournament, here’s how to play:

The ante: Each player antes money into the middle. This is the money you pay in order to tell the dealer you’d like to play this round.

The cards to each player: The dealer deals out two cards face down to each person. When you receive yours, check them out but don’t show them to anybody. If you are wondering what is a good hand to play, a good rule of thumb is this: if you got a hand that you’d be happy about in blackjack, then you’ve probably got a decent hand in Texas Hold’em. That’s not a perfect rule, but it’s a good place to start. Another way people decide if it’s a good hand is if they get a pair or if they get a face card with a second card. Either of these hands, too, will make for a hand with some potential. After everyone has received their first two cards, there is a round of betting.

The cards in the center: The dealer deals out five cards in the center: two cards face down and three cards face up. This is called the flop. Players look at the combination of cards in their hand and cards in the flop to decide if they can assemble a poker hand from it. There is a round of betting.

The turn: The dealer turns up the fourth card. This is called the turn. Again, players look at all the cards available to decide if there is the potential for a good hand. There is a round of betting.

The river: Finally, the dealer turns out the fifth card and now the players who are still in can choose from any of the seven cards in front of them (the 5 face-up and 2 face-down) to make the best hand of five. There is a final round of betting.

The call: Players reveal their cards and the winner takes the pot!

These rules are far from complete. However, you did learn enough to play a decent game with your friends or to give you a little more understanding of what goes on at the Texas Hold’em tournament on television.

Advanced Poker Tip – Always Be Aware

Wednesday, July 1st, 2009

A common mistake by many players is to concentrate only on their cards and not to take any real notice of how the flop, turn and river cards can have helped other players. A big mistake.

Always, always keep alert, take notice of cards as they appear on the board and analyze how those cards might have given your opponents a boost and if your hand is now beaten or unplayable – if it would be unwise to commit any more chips to the pot.

Your pair of aces pre-flop may no longer the best if the flop comes 5, 6, 7 or any three cards of the same suit. Somebody could have a straight or a flush. If they do, your aces are toast.

Always, always think what hands might be out there. Some examples:

• any pair on the board – possible three of a kind, a full house or four of a Kind

• three cards of the same suit – possible flush

• three consecutive cards of the same suit – possible straight flush or even a royal flush

• any two cards of the same suit – somebody might be chasing a flush

• any sequence of “connected” unsuited cards – possible straight or somebody chasing a straight

Stay alert to the potential that you’re beat as cards fall. And if you think you are beaten, do you really need to call that big raise when you’re holding a pair of tens with a flop of K, 9, 6 all hearts. You’re beaten if anyone has a K, never mind a flush.

If you think somebody might be “chasing” a hand you might be able to stop them by raising yourself to represent you already have a better hand. Make it expensive for the chasing player to see another card and they may not bother.

Playing Internet Poker

Wednesday, July 1st, 2009

Internet poker has taken the world by storm, for the past few years it’s been featured on television, in magazines, poker tutorial books have been published and sold millions of copies, the internet itself has seen an explosion is poker related websites. The question is, how safe is internet poker and is it easy for a beginner to try?

The one thing that worries most newcomers to online poker is whether or not they’re being tricked. You give your personal details to a poker site to register, you play against usernames on a monitor and there comes a time when you wish to make a real money deposit and try your luck against the best. All steps could be considered somewhat risky.

Follow these simple steps and you will be taking the safest route to playing your first online poker game:

1. Choose a reputable poker room who advertises in the media, eg. on television, major sporting events, full page national newspaper ads.

This tells you the poker room is willing to spend large amounts of money to get you to play on their site, fly-by-night outfits are less likely to outlay such large sums for national advertising.

Well established, trustworthy poker rooms include; Full Tilt Poker, Cake Poker and Sun Poker.

2. Use a free payment processor to handle your online transactions. Companies such as Neteller and ePassporte will protect your details and they have extremely efficient support staff to handle any requests.

Doing this ensures you only give out your card details once to make a deposit – to the payment processor.

3. Use a different password at every site you register at, make sure it includes numbers and letters. This will ensure if the worst happens, it will only happen at one site and you can quickly fix the situation.

Once you’ve found a poker room you’d like to play at, you will want to make the most of your deposit, keep a look out for deposit bonuses that will automatically add extra money into your new poker account. These bonuses are often awarded after you’ve entered a referral code during the signup process.

Good luck at the tables!

Try the best Full Tilt Poker referral code available for a $600 bonus. A one-stop poker shop of bonus codes, especially great for new Full Tilt Poker players.

Welcome to the Wonderful World of Roulette

Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

You know the scene all too well. There’s a crowd of well-dressed, important people standing around a roulette table in either a casino, or at some type of fundraising event themed as a casino night. Then there is that one person who has all the luck in the world. He or she is standing at the table, opposite the croupier (dealer), and every bet seems to be a winner. Pretty soon, this person is having “lucky” (and normally very attractive) people blow on the lucky chips, only increasing the odds and of course resulting in more wins. Then after multiple times as a winner, the person finally follows the “quit while you’re ahead” strategy and exists the table with stacks of chips and insurmountable wealth – this is the TV version of the game.

Trust me, I’ve been to a real casino with a real roulette table, and it is not normally that glamorous. Often times, you’ll find people standing around the table with bags under their eyes from a sleepless night of trials and errors. The ones without the bags were able to sleep a few hours in the hotel room they were given as consolation from the casino for graciously losing so much money with them – fun times, right?

Though the two scenarios I’ve presented can be very real, they are also opposite extremes. Just like any other gambling game you take part in, roulette is based on luck and chance – if you’re lucky, you win; if you’re not, you lose. While I cannot provide tips on how you can guarantee yourself a win on the table, I can introduce you to the game and give you a few tips, and even practice sites that can help you become a skilled player.

What is Roulette?

Roulette is a gambling game named after the French word for a small wheel. To start the game, the croupier spins the wheel in one direction then lets the ball fall on a circular surface and it begins to spin in the opposite direction. When it actually lands onto the wheel it will land into one of the 38 available slots (coded in colors and numbers), one or more of which has been betted on by the players around the table trying to predetermine the winning number (the number that the ball falls on).

One major difference between this and other table games is that the chips have no denomination on them. This is because a particular colored chip’s value is determined by the value of the player’s buy-in, and the dealer determines the color’s buy in by placing it on his own stack – in other words, value varies from game to game.

When placing bets on the table, you can place either inside bets or outside bets. Inside bets are characterized by selecting the number (pocket) or range of numbers the ball will fall in. On the other hand, the outside bet is placed for determining different positional groups of pockets, colors, and even whether it will be odd or even. Minimum and maximum bets are sometimes pre-determined and payout for a winning bet is always based on probability.

Tips and Strategies

Number Placement – One way to have one up on your opponents in this game is to not treat this wheel as a random creation. While it does take luck to determine where the ball will fall, you do have the ability to increase your odds of a winning bet by paying attention to where the numbers fall on the wheel. If you pay close attention, you will see that the red and black numbers alternate and two odd numbers commonly alternate with two even numbers. If you learn to calculate the odds of the ball falling in the same places again, you might have a chance of placing winning bets – again, this is no guarantee, only a way to help you pay closer attention to how the wheel moves.

Wheel Tracking – There is a rumor going around that the wheels are biased; there is a heavy side and a light side. According to those who claim this to be true, the gravity causes the ball to land on the heavy side more often than the light side. If this is true, then you can watch the wheel on multiple spins to determine what side the balls seems to fall on the most then bet on numbers on that side. Again, this has never been deemed a fact and should not be used as a rule of thumb.

Playing Roulette Online

Aside from relying on faulty wheels and number combinations, your best bet to become as skilled as you can is by practicing. While you can learn by diving right in at your local casino, it might be your best bet to learn to play online, where the chips are free and the experience you can obtain is plenty. To help you out, here are a few highly-recommended websites to learn the game.

Roulette4Fun.com is a great resource for learning to play roulette and getting plenty of practice. All you have to do to start is enter their site and you’ll be greeted by a game that is in the process of loading. This site does not offer interactive games with live players, but it does give you the opportunity to learn the basics before stepping out into the real gambling world.

Gambleversity.com is a site more geared toward providing the rules and strategies of the game. They’ve created 14 free online courses ranging from learning the basics of how to play, to learning the odds. And when you’re all done, they have an actual game you can play.

Learning roulette can be a piece of cake if you are willing to set aside some time (and eventually some money) to understand the basics. The best ways to get your feet wet is to play online for free – after that you will be well on your way. Just don’t let me see you standing at one of those roulette tables with bags under your eyes – that’s never a good look!
