The 3 Deadly Smoking Sins
Every smoker is guilty of the three deadly smoking sins. So what are they? Simple, they are the three lies a smoker consistently tell themselves to justify a deadly habit. They are the lies that a smoker has to overcome before they can successfully quit smoking for good.
‘I enjoy smoking.’
‘I want to smoke.’
‘I need to smoke.’
Enjoy, want and need, these are the three deadly smoking sins and they are deadly for a reason; smoking kills. Of course it’s up to you if you choose to believe it or not. According to the American Cancer Society approximately half of the smokers who continue to smoke will die from a smoking related illness. That’s over 400,000 people every year in the U.S alone and millions worldwide.
That’s a pretty scary thought for any smoker, young or old, man or woman. Or it should be. There aren’t many things that you can do in life on a daily basis that will contribute to your death as much as smoking a cigarette will.
Problem is no smoker wants to believe it even though it’s a fifty-fifty chance that it will happen to them. Let me put it to you this way; smoking cigarettes is like putting your life on the line on the spin of a roulette wheel, if the little ball lands on black you die if it lands on red you live. Put another way, heads you die tales you live.
Next time you are smoking a cigarette with a bunch of other smokers do a quick head count. Guess what, if all of them there smokers continue to enjoy, want and need a cigarette then half of them will die because of it. Maybe it’s time to ask yourself if you really do enjoy, want and need a cigarette so much so that you’re prepared to bet your life on a flip of a coin or the spin of a roulette wheel.
