Online Poker Tournaments
Poker tournaments are an excellent way to have fun whilst making friends , make yourself a little bit of cash, chat with other poker players and also a way into some of the large international tournaments held in places like Las Vegas and ran by the WPT or even the WSOP. There are many different types of poker tournament available at any time of the day, some of the options available are based on cost to play, the poker variation that is to be played, the betting and the tournament formats.
I would recommend choosing your tournament initially based on the cost to play compared against your skill level. There is no point any new players, no matter how large your bankroll, playing in a $200 tournament as you will be eaten alive as a “fish” by the more experienced “shark” players. Low stakes tournaments usually attract the low skill levels of the beginner, Medium stakes attract those intermediate players and High stakes attract only the best players. One exception to this rule is the Freeroll tournaments which are free to enter and attract players from all skill levels.
Of course, there are many different variations of poker that can be played online and you should also choose your tournament based on which variation you can play; Texas Holdem, Omaha, Omaha Hi/Low, Stud and Carribean Poker all usually have tournaments that can be played online. There would be no point in entering a Omaha tournament online if the only form of poker that you can play is Texas Holdem.
