LeBron Scores Big For Knicks At MSG

Wednesday, June 30th, 2010

MVP candidate and the NBA’s leading player, LeBron James, scored 50 points last night at Madison Square Garden in a 119-105 win over the Knicks. The Knicks trailed 99-98 when James went on a tear in the final 3:51, hitting four three-pointers. His 50th point came with 1:04 left in the game. James made 16 of 30 shots, including 7 of 13 threes, and 11 of 16 from the line, along with 10 assists and 4 steals. It was his fifth 50-point game and his second this year. He received a standing ovation for his efforts and said it was a great honor to get one in the greatest basketball arena in the world.

Even though it was LeBron’s time to shine, the spotlights still seemed to be on Stephon Marbury. Lebron James reportedly feels that Marbury constantly puts himself in front of the team, which is extremely disheartening for the Knicks. The team doesn’t foresee the situation with Marbury getting better any time soon either.

It’s still unclear as to whether or not Marbury was banned from Madison Square Garden because of his ankle surgery or because of unexcused absences. Isiah Thomas doesn’t seem to be too quick to answer any questions regarding Marbury so it’s still a mystery. It’s even unclear as to whether or not Marbury even wants to stay with the Knicks because of the discrepancies in his statements. Marbury’s teammates are beginning to feel that he cares more about himself than the team. This could be an extremely toxic notion among players. Either way, LeBron James showed Marbury what it’s like to be a real team player. He should get the credit he deserves.

Online Poker Cheating

Tuesday, June 29th, 2010

Online poker cheating can be done, but there is no incentive for an online poker site to let it happen or even participate in the scheme. They make their money from the rake they get from each hand and the more hands of poker that are played means they collect more money. More players on a site lead to more games and more games means more hands dealt and more money collected. Since this is the case, players can assume that good sites monitor play to catch players who are trying to cheat the game.

They have algorithms in place to catch partner play and that is pretty much the only form of cheating that can go on. Two players could be on the phone and be in the same game. They could tell each other what they have and the one player could raise in order to build the pot for the player with the better hand. This pattern is not easy to catch, but it can be defeated by the simple method of folding hands that are consistently raised by one player who then folds their hand. The other way to combat this scheme is to report your suspicions to the site and let them monitor the players that you suspect.

Most live casino players do feel that the dealing algorithm is not as fair as most sites claim. It does seem to favor aces more than any other card value. This may not be factually true, but that is the perception that live cash players have when comparing online play with live cash play. This perception could be caused by the fact that an online game is going to have more hands dealt per hour than are dealt in the same hour of play in a live game.

Another reason that some players feel they are being cheated is easy to see. They are terrible players with no concept of money management and when to call and when to fold. It is no wonder that they lose with such consistency. They are just really bad players who are not willing to learn the game correctly.

The sites that are popular with players all over the world have a vested interest in running a clean game with no hint of any schemes being allowed. It is just not in their best interest to let this go on.

Players that suspect cheating since they lose all of the time should look at their play first before suggesting they are being cheated.

Online Gambling and Your Bankroll

make money gambling57 Online Gambling and Your Bankroll

The internet is a fascinating and terrifying phenomenon. It can easily be a venue for generating income, it can make people famous or infamous overnight, it can dictate worldwide trends and patterns. It has even taken most of our everyday lives and made cyber counterparts out of almost every little thing we do. And then there’s gambling.

Vegas is still the place to be when it comes to having a good time and gambling your troubles away, but the World Wide Web is something else altogether. A table at Vegas can only accommodate people who are actually in the same building in the same room, but a table at an online casino can accommodate people from all parts fop the globe. But that’s what makes it very dangerous too. With all the new possibilities and horizons online gambling has brought forth, there also comes a matching possibility of people gambling away their hard earned money without ever having to set foot in Nevada.

Here is where one of the most common and practiced concepts in Poker come into play: the bankroll. Your bankroll is the money you’re willing to gamble with-that is to say, the money you’re willing to lose. If by any chance you lose all of your bankroll in one go, you call it a day and do it again another time. The problem with most people hooked on gambling, is that they don’t have a bankroll. They just keep playing and losing all their money. For such gargantuan gambling networks such as online casinos, this can pose a really great threat to people ‘enjoying’ themselves. Always remember your bankroll-if you run out, try again some other time when you have enough extra money to play again.

The Dangers of Doubling Down When Betting Sports

Monday, June 28th, 2010

We all know what a double down is, don’t we? Let’s review: You’re playing blackjack, you get a 6 and a 5. The dealer has a 6 showing. Now, let’s look at the odds. Every 52 card deck has 28 cards that would make your 11 a good blackjack hand. There are four 7s, four 8s, four 9s, four 10s and 12 face cards. All of those cards give you a 17 or better. That’s a better than 50/50 chance you will get a good card.

On the other side of the coin, those same odds work in favor of you with regard to hurting the dealer’s hand. The odds are better than 50/50 that he will have a card in the hole (the dealer’s facedown card) that gives the dealer a 16, 15, 14, or 13. Then the odds are better than 50/50 that the next card the dealer draws will bust him (the same 7, 8, 9, 10, or face card that helps you will kill his hand).

All of these factors give you an excellent chance of winning your hand. So, what do you do? You use the greatest gift ever given to a bettor in Las Vegas: The Double Down! You double you existing bet, and you get one card. Odds are it will help your hand. You then wait for the dealer’s cards to come up and as we have discovered, odds are his hand will be destroyed with their card. So you’ve doubled your winnings.

As you can see, in blackjack, the double down is a great opportunity to win extra money when the odds are with you. But, in betting sports at a sports book, some gamblers fall into a trap of doubling down in a very different way. After a series of losses, they will pick one game and load up on it trying to break even and climb out of their hole. By using the opposite of good money management skills, they have a 50/50 shot of actually doubling their losses in stead of doubling their winnings.

In blackjack, you only double your bet in those instances when all of the odds are working in your favor. This makes a very smart wager. But chasing a losing trend with a giant bet, trying to go “double or nothing” is a loser’s bet and defies logic. And yet, you see it every day.

Wise money management habits in sports betting dictate that reasonable wagers in the same monetary unit for your wagers is the best way to minimize exposure to risk and maximize potential winnings. The only time you should increase your bets is after a winning pattern emerges and you have a bank of winnings to draw off of.

Conversely, the only wise betting pattern you should establish after a string of losses, is to reduce the amounts of the units you are betting until a winning trend emerges.

Doubling down is a great idea in blackjack, it is disastrous when betting sports.
