Online Gambling – A Good Way For Making Money Online?

Tuesday, December 15th, 2009

Online gambling should not be seen primarily as a way of making money online. Undoubtedly you can come out on top and walk away with a profit from you online gambling session, but it’s better viewed as enjoyment and entertainment than as a way of making money online.

However if you want to try your luck you should adhere to these four simple rules:

1. Be very careful about which online gambling sites you use. Most online casinos are reputable and trustworthy, but make sure you investigate them thoroughly before you start to play. Since it is not possible to know the track record of each and every online casino today, it is my recommendation to stick with the older more established, and well known ones. Most of them use software that is leased from the larger gambling software companies such as, Microgaming, Work Gaming, Boss Media, and Playtech, and have a reputation of being reliable, and trustworthy.

2. Budget your money: Place an absolute limit on the money that you can afford to gamble with and lose. Never exceed that amount or gamble with money that you can’t afford to lose. Leaving your credit cards out of reach may be a good way to ensure that you won’t be tempted to exceed your budget limit.

3. Never borrow money to gamble with: If you start gambling with borrowed money you can one run the risk of falling heavily into debt and perhaps having to sell your possessions to payback the borrowed money, but the risk of alienating friends and family members, or infuriating the “money lenders” should be enough reason to avoid this practice at all costs.

4. Your main concern when playing on the internet should be the security of your money and your identity. Make certain that any place that you gamble online has a top of the line security system in place to stop others from being able to access your personal information or funds. Naturally, this should be a priority with any place where you provide personal and credit card information online anyway.

So online gambling can be great fun, but it can also be addictive. Use your common sense; perhaps even use a system, but if you do make sure you stick absolutely to the instructions. Other people have already lost far more than you can afford so please make sure you don’t follow in their footsteps. If there are systems that you feel comfortable with you may just be able to use responsible online gambling as a good way for making money online.

Drawing Hands and Position As No-Limit Hold ‘Em Strategies

Monday, December 14th, 2009

It is best to have an aggressive approach in the play of drawing heads-up situations, whereas, it is best to have an understanding of how position influences optimal strategy while playing drawing hands in multi-way pots.

As a general rule, in playing against three opponents, it’s usually correct to begin aggressively. One of the exceptions to this rule is that if one is second on turn and the pre-flop raiser has position on one. Also, if the first player bets and all you have is a draw, it’s best to proceed cautiously until you know how the pre-flop raiser acts. Although, if you are in a pot against more than three players, your position – relative to both the pre-flop raiser and the post-flop bettor is a very important factor to consider before developing a strategy for the hand.

There important positional factors to keep in mind before choosing a particular action upon flopping a draw. Successful players automatically think of factors such as, who is the pre-flop raiser and (in relation to you) where is most likely for the post-flop to come from, If this player has position on you, keep track of players between you and him and are those players straightforward or tricky, and how many will act after you. More importantly, what kind of strategy one would obtain upon analyzing the above information gathered.

When (on the flop) with the drawing hand, one would prefer ideally one of the two outcomes, either one is able to successfully steal the pot or one gets the right chances (pot and/or implied) to try and make a hand. Both outcomes are relevant.

Poker has been around for centuries, so how come the sudden boom that has recently taken the Internet by storm?

I’m a big poker fan, and have been for years. I played poker regularly with my friends and family years before the advent of poker online. There were some things that I didn’t like about playing with my friends: the first thing was that I had to wait till we got some folk together before we could play, so I usually had to wait till a Wednesday or Sunday evening; second of all, when it started getting late people started dropping off to go home, which left little enough people to play, until within a few hours it was over; thirdly , and sometimes most annoyingly was that if you went all in and went out early in a game you had to sit and watch everyone else play for maybe an hour or more – how frustrating!

These, I believe, are the reasons for the boom in poker popularity. These reasons were the biggest reasons not to play poker, but now when you play poker online you have full control over when you play; when you stop playing, and when you go out you can simply start another game. Because of these features added by the power of the internet, a great game has been allowed to flourish.

The only difficult part about making the progression into the online world of poker is finding out where the best places are to play, and where to stay away from. When I started playing poker online this was the most daunting stage for me. If I’d have known then what I know now I would have been a lot more at ease when I was starting out.

What I have learned along the way is that there are sites out there to help the online poker beginner find out where the best places are to play; which places to stay away from, and which poker rooms are suitable to play in when the poker player fancies a change of scenery. One such site is the poker review site Poker Online UK. This site gives a number out of ten (a poker rank) of the top poker websites on the internet; and gives a description of the sites that it has ranked. This site also provides bonus codes and links from which the poker beginner will get bonus cash when they make a deposit using the code, or signing up through the link.

Another poker review site I found out about is Poker Websites. This site is similar to Poker Online UK, but in a different style. Poker Websites has a number that has been mathematically calculated to rank all of the top poker websites. The last time I was on the Poker Websites site I found out about the new site Poker News that’s associated with Poker Websites. Poker News is a new website dedicated to providing online poker players with the best poker news that they want to know about.

Poker has been around for a long time, but it’s only now that we enthusiasts have the freedom to play it whenever we want. God bless the Internet!

The Different Levels Of Thinking About No Limit Hold Em

Saturday, December 12th, 2009

In poker, players can think on a few different levels. Generally the more advanced a player is the higher a level he is thinking on. You should be thinking on at least three levels whenever you play. The levels are:

1. What do you have? This is the simplest level; you merely look at your hand and the board and figure out how strong your hand is.

2. What does your opponent have? This is a bit more complicated as you have to try to pin them down to as narrow a range of holdings as you can.

3. What does your opponent think that you have? This is even more complicated as you have to evaluate your own play from the standpoint of a player who hasn’t seen your hole cards which can be hard to do since you have seen your hold cards. Your table image and the way you have played so far in the current hand factor in highly here.

4. What does your opponent think that you think that he has? Here you are trying to figure out his level 3 thought process. Of course if you opponent doesn’t think that deep it will be less important but still not unimportant because though he may not pay that much mind consciously he is definitely doing so subconsciously. His subconscious thought may manifest itself in his play so it can still be helpful to be aware of it even though you would give it less weight than you would against a player who can think on that level consciously.

As you can imagine the levels could theoretically go on forever but anything much beyond level four is too complicated to worry about. Trust me when I say that you can go pretty far up the poker chain and not run into many people who even think clearly on that level, let alone above it.

Nonetheless it is hard to win at any significant stakes without incorporating the first three levels into your thought process since so many players will be thinking either consciously or subconsciously on level three. Like everything else in life your ability to think on these higher levels will row as you gain experience. You should be able to think on at least level 2 fright from the beginning and level 3 after a little experience. Beyond that things start to get a bit murky and it may take you some time to get to level 4. Don’t worry though, there is plenty of money to be made before you can truly think like that.

Holdem Strategy

Saturday, December 12th, 2009

Holdem strategy are two words many advent online poker players want to learn but do not know where to start. Many sites such as fulltilt poker or poker stars offer holdem help and holdem tips free of charge just for creating a play money account. I believe that this is the best place to start if you’re just starting out playing poker. There is tons and tons of money to be made out there so you have definitely come to the right place and game. Now there are some great poker books free of charge out there and poker books online that you can get for a small fee that will really help your game.

Some of these books have taken many players games to the next level and have really profited time after time, day after day. Some people play poker as a full time job because they are making enough money to support themselves and their families because they have developed an incredible strategy. One book that I know of from a personal level that has really changed my life was Brunson super system. What an incredible poker books packed in with loads and loads of wonderful information. Yexas holdem has been around for years and years, and the person to rule the poker land for decades was Doyle Brunson. Brunson Doyle, aka Doyle Brunson has been ruling the poker land for decades. He is known for his famous “2″ “10″ hand which is the same hand that won him 2 world series of poker events.

When you are first starting out playing poker for real money online you need to think outside the box. Please do not jump into a cash game right away and risk losing all your money. You can lose all your money in one single hand, and cost you your whole bankroll. The best advice I can tell you is to play sit and go’s. What a sit n go is, is a mini tournament consisting of 9 players, and the top 3 players remain standing when money based on a prize structure.

The payout is as follows:

1st place – 50% of the total overall prize pool
2nd place – 30% of the total overall prize pool
3rd place – 20% of the total overall prize pool

The best strategy you will learn that many poker books UK and poker books on tape will tell you is to play tight throughout the sit and go until you reach around 5 players left. When it is down to 4 players you definitely need to play aggressive. You need to take as many blinds as you can which will pave your way into a first place victory. When there is 4 players left, all players remaining will fold the majority of every hand just in hopes of making the money. Most of them do not realize 1 first place victory is just like finishing 3rd place 3 times in a row.

Go with your gut feeling, play your poker hands well, and you should have no problems constantly winning first place.

Casino Games For Female Gamblers

Thursday, December 10th, 2009

The ‘average’ online casino player is female, aged between 46 and 55.

The reason why is obvious, when you think about it – for years, land based casinos were male-dominated spaces where women, if they were allowed in at all, were seen as either waitresses, glammed-up escorts to ‘serious’ gamblers or blue-haired pensioners piling coins into slots.

With the advent of online gambling, that all changed. Now, women can gamble where and when they like, without the pressure – real or imagined – of feeling like an unwelcome outsider.

Surprisingly, though, the online casino industry has been relatively slow in picking up the opportunities offered by this demographic. Most of those online gambling sites that do focus on female gamblers tend to assume that all they want to do is play bingo and chat on online message boards.

Whilst there’s no doubt that many female gamblers enjoy those aspects of online casinos, there’s an entire group who are interested in more traditional casino games.

If you’re one of those gamblers, and you feel a little neglected by the marketing of casino sites, this article is intended to point you towards games I know you’ll enjoy!

First up is probably the most male-dominated game of all, Baccarat (pronounced Back-a-rah and also known as Punto Banco) As the game that introduced James Bond to the world in Casino Royale, it has always had an aura of class and glamour. Think of Bond girls in strapless black dresses, draped over the players as they gamble, and you’ll see how women are generally regarded by Baccarat players!

In traditional bricks-and-mortar casinos, Baccarat is often played in a separate room, out of the way of the ‘rowdier’ tables, as it is the game preferred by ‘high-rollers’, those high stakes players that get treated so well by the management. This is another reason why land-based Baccarat can feel so intimidating, for men as well as women.

Online, however, there are no such restrictions to playing Baccarat. Gone are the trappings of glamour and secrecy – and what’s left is a straightforward, enjoyable card game, with room for a little strategy.

I designed Fortune Palace (see resource box) to introduce players to game such as Baccarat. If you visit, you’ll see all the rules and bets clearly explained, an explanation of strategy for all levels of risk – and, best of all, you’ll be able to practice absolutely free, so you won’t need to chance any money until you’re familiar with the game.

The second game I’d like to recommend is one of my personal favourites – Sic Bo. Not many know of this game as it’s played mainly by Asian and Far Eastern gamblers. In fact, a lot of Western casinos fail to offer the game. Online, though, it’s one of the most popular table games.

Unusually, Sic Bo is widely regarded as a ‘game for women’ amongst gamblers. This disparaging attitude ignores the possibilities that the game has to offer. To describe it briefly, it’s a game played with three dice that has similarities with Craps and Roulette. I’m always amazed by how Roulette players look ‘down their nose’ at Sic Bo. True, the odds in Sic Bo are not exactly the most favourable in the casino, but it’s not as if Roulette is a guaranteed money maker! In fact, if you’re looking to try out a strategy on a close-to-evens chance bet like Red/Black, Sic Bo offers a very similar bet in Big/Small.

But that’s missing the point. The fun in Sic Bo lies in the betting permutations and combinations. Basically, there are 216 ways that three dice can be rolled – and you can place any number of bets on these possible outcomes. For example, you could bet on the overall total, on a pair, on a triple, on a specific number – the possibilities are numerous.

The way the board is laid out, the way the dice are rolled, and the way the results are presented all go towards the excitement and enjoyment of the game. For some fun in the casino, I think Sic Bo’s unbeatable.

Blackjack is a very popular game and it’s unlikely that you’re unfamiliar with it so I won’t go into detail in this article. All I will say is that I’ve devised a simple 3-stage strategy for Blackjack that is intended to take players from beginner to high-roller whilst still keeping the enjoyment in the game. If you’re a Blackjack player – or would like to be! – you might care to check it out.

Another unusual game we describe at Fortune Palace is Pai Gow Poker. This is a game I like to describe as Blackjack for Poker players. In other words, you need a basic knowledge of poker hands (don’t worry – Fortune Palace has a hand ranking chart for beginners!) but the game itself is a you-versus-the-dealer kind of game.

You’re dealt seven cards and you have to make two poker-based hands, one of five cards and one of two. The dealer does the same – if both your hands beat the dealer’s, you win!

It’s fast and exciting and a game that I know is very popular with female visitors to the site. The strategy can seem complex at first, but once you’re familiar with it it’s a game you can really get into.

A variation of the game is Bonus Pai Gow Poker. In that version, you can place a side bet that your seven cards will contain a significant poker hand (eg full house, straight). The advantage of this bet is that you win the wager even if you don’t win the two hands ie you get the bonus regardless of how you set your hands! If you’re lucky enough to get a Royal Flush, the bonus pays out a massive 8,000 to 1!

Sadly, not all online casinos offer the Bonus version. But if you’re playing at one that does (eg Spin Palace or Ruby Fortune) it’s worth checking out.

Roulette is possibly the most popular and familiar of all casino games. As with Blackjack, I’m sure you know most of what you need to know about Roulette, so I won’t go into detail here. But if you’re attracted by one of the many Roulette ‘systems’ available on the market, at Fortune Palace we’ve tested the most popular ones and give you our verdict. I won’t tell you here which work and which don’t – that would spoil the surprise!

The last game I’d like to introduce you to is Keno. True, this is a game similar to Bingo, which may seem to contradict the initial point of this article, but I feel it’s a game female players may enjoy. Put simply, it’s a cross between Bingo and Lotto, where you have an element of control over how many and which numbers you choose.

You mark the numbers on a card and then 20 balls are drawn at random. You win depending on how many ‘spots’ you choose and how many of those come up. Winning small amounts is relatively easy – winning big is relatively hard! But if you’re lucky enough to get 10 from 10, the payout is 100,000 to 1.

Keno is more of a ‘fun’ game than many others, but it has its charms and offers a diversion when you’re looking to relax between hands of more ‘serious’ games.

Overall, then, I hope this article has given female players a taste of the kind of games that are available to them and will encourage some to try their hand at online gambling.

Remember, in the past, casinos were a male preserve. Online casinos have made things much more democratic – everyone’s welcome and everyone’s treated equally.

Women have a right to play where and when they want – make sure you exercise that right!

Andy Follin is author of Fortune Palace, an eCOGRA ‘reputable gambling portal’ that introduces players to less familiar gambling games and recommends casinos at which to play. The site also features a detailed online casino depositing guide.

Everything You Wanted To Know About Blackjack Online

Wednesday, December 9th, 2009

Except for the fact that it’s played in a virtual online setting, online blackjack is essentially the same game that was played in France during the reign of the Sun King, Louis the 14th. Blackjack online offers all the challenge and excitement of real, brick-and-mortar casino play right in the comfort of your own home – and blackjack games online offer you the option of wagering real money. However, there are gaming websites offering online blackjack that can simply be played for the fun of it or for practice as well.

Once It Was Twenty-One

If you are familiar with blackjack games online or off, you understand that the point of the game is to get cards that add up to 21 – or as close as you can get to it without exceeding that number. The contest is between you and the house – as is the case in real casinos, success at blackjack games online requires that you get closer to 21 than the house in order to win.

This in fact was the original name – “Twenty-one,” or vignt-et-une. The current name for online blackjack was applied once the game had made its way to the U.S. during the 19th century. Twenty-one was slow to catch on among early riverboat and saloon gamblers initially, so those who ran the games began offering a 10 to 1 payout when a player’s hand included a “black jack,” i.e. the Jack of Spades or the Jack of Clubs. This label is still used for referring to online blackjack, even though the 10 to 1 payout is no longer offered.

How to Play Black Jack Online

If you know how to play blackjack in real life, you already know how to play blackjack online. You’ll also find some exotic – and even racy – variations of the game, such as strip blackjack, in which virtual models ranging from cartoonish to very realistic bare all for the winning player. Other types of blackjack games online include variations such as Spanish 2i, in which the 10 cards are not used, and 21st Century – also known as Vegas Style – and “Double Exposure.” Each of these forms of online blackjack offers unique challenges and require slightly different skills.

This in fact is one of the many reasons that blackjack games online are so popular – unlike many casino games, which relay completely on the element of chance, online blackjack players can learn and develop skills and strategies that will give them an “edge” over the house.

But don’t take our word for it – try online blackjack for yourself today and find out what everyone is talking about!

Best Lottery Software

Tuesday, December 8th, 2009

The best lottery software on the market is NO lottery software. What do I mean by this? Why spend hundreds and hundreds of dollars on lottery prediction software or pick 3 lottery software when you can develop your own system based on UNMATCHED numbers. Half these lotto programs out on the market do not work, cost way too much, and are a piece of junk. I promise you these type of programs do not work. My best advice to you is to find a strategy book on how to win at pick 3 for a one time for a one time fee and stick to that.

The best lotto tip I can share with you is to play UNMATCHED numbers. For those of you out there that are new to pick 3, let me share with you what exactly UNMATCHED numbers are. UNMATCHED numbers are combinations of 3 numbers which do not repeat. For instance, 1-2-3, 8-3-4, 5-9-0, 3-1-4, 6-7-8, and 0-1-4 are all examples of unmatched numbers.

Double combinations are combinations where 2 numbers repeat. For example, 2-2-7, 8-6-8, 5-5-9, 4-3-4, 5-5-6, etc… These numbers rarely hit and should play with caution if you ever do decide to play doubles. I would recommend though not wasting your time. Doubles will not pay off in the long run, so please do not waste your money.

Triples, let’s not even talk about betting on triples. Let’s just analyze the odds of triples hitting for a second. Triples are 3 like numbers such as 0-0-0, 1-1-1, 2-2-2, 3-3-3, 4-4-4, 5-5-5, 6-6-6, 7-7-7, 8-8-8, 9-9-9. Triples are the hardest things to pick in any state pick 3 lottery. The odds of triples hitting are 1 out of 99 pick 3 lottery drawings. Now when that 1 pick 3 drawing hits with a triple out of 99, you have to have the right triple selected.

Now let’s get back to UNMATCHED numbers. There are 720 UNMATCHED NUMBER COMBINATIONS OUT THERE. Now if you play those 720 combinations as BOXED, there are only 120 actual combinations. Boxed bets are seriously also the only way to go. The payout is a little lower but you can win in any combination. Let’s say you have 1-5-7. The pick 3 comes 5-1-7… You win regardless of the way the lotto balls come out.

Now only choosing unmatched numbers gives you a legitimate shot of winning the pick 3. 1:120 compared to 1:1000? You definitely can’t beat that. Using no strategy at all you will find yourself at a 1:1000 chance of winning the pick 3. That’s almost unbearable. 1:120 is not bad odds at all. If you put 2 dollars on the Pick 3 you got a 1:60 chance, 3 dollars you got a 1:40 chance. Not bad huh?

Unmatched number betting has definitely won me some serious cash and truly works. The state lottery systems are seriously making way to much money on everyone. It is now time to turn the tables on them and start winning! Whatever you do, I wish you the best of luck.

Online Poker Games – Which One Is the Most Profitable?

Monday, December 7th, 2009

There have been countless studies done on poker players from around the world and hundred’s of online poker reviews posted by the most advent poker players show that online poker tournament’s such as Sit-N-Go’s are the most profitable overall. The main reason? You can’t lose your WHOLE ENTIRE BANKROLL playing an online poker tournament. When you sit down in a ring game aka cash game, you run the risk of losing your entire hard earned bankroll in one hand. Let me give you a little scenario.

You think your aces are good, you push all in preflop only to be called by QQ and get cracked. Your hours of grinding at the .25/.50 poker tables, .50/1.00 poker tables, and finally playing 1.00/2.00 poker blinds is done the drain. It happen’s all the time to so many player’s, read the poker news or poker message boards around. There are TONS of them. You will see many horror stories and even entire sections of some forums dedicated to texas holdem bad beats! It seriously happens all the time and the only way to prevent this from happening to you is managing your bankroll and not going on TILT.

The easiest way of managing your bankroll is simple. Stick to Sit-N-Go’s, where you only run the risk of losing a set amount of money (the online poker tournament buy-in) and NO MORE. Your losses are controlled and if your poker hands are not hitting or you are getting sucked out on for the night, take a break and recover tomorrow. Your bankroll can always be built back up, if you lose it all you will have to redeposit. Not only will you be re depositing once, you will be doing it over and over again just to play online poker.

You simply just need to deposit one time and that is it. Treat your bankroll as if it was your own kid. It needs love, attention, and care. Without these 3 elements, you will go broke QUICKLY. Know your poker rules even before you deposit for the first time. Play poker online free of charge before you open that wallet up! I know it’s a rush to win money, but you won’t succeed without the proper mindset and training.

You can practice for play money until your blue in the face, but you won’t know how to play REAL poker until you start at the real money level. At the play money level, you will see many players’ push with total garbage and not a care in the world if they lose, tack on $1000.00 top prize finish, you better bet your last dollar these same players will play differently. To get a real feel of poker online if you are just starting out, try depositing $50.00 on Full Tilt Poker or Pokerstars and make sure that’s the last time you EVER deposit. Play online poker tournaments such as $2.00 Sit-N-Go’s to build your bankroll up. Once it reaches over $150-200 move on to some $5.00 Sit-N-Go’s.

Once you master winning single table Sit-N-Go’s over and over again, the real profit and fun comes when you start multi-tabling! Multi-table your way into living off the profit’s of your Sit-N-Go’s all from the comfort of your own home.
