History Of Online Gambling

Friday, October 23rd, 2009

Online gaming is not very old and started in the late 1990′s with the Caribbean government legalizing online gambling. This step paved the way for further advancement in this field. Although it is illegal to gamble on the Internet in many countries, foreign-based casinos and gambling houses carry out their businesses with impunity. This is because governments do not have the power to interfere in other country’s business activities.

On November 10, 2004, the WTO (World Trade Organization) ruled in favor of the Antigua (Caribbean) government. The indictment was that the Caribbean government was exporting the gambling business to the US. However, the WTO ruled that the US government acted against GATS (General Agreement in Trade and Services).

Backtracking along the timeline will reveal that the first online casino became active in 1994 and was empowered by the free trade processing zone act, which allowed operation of casinos from Antigua, Barbuda. The first online gambling house was called Cryptologic, which began creating software for online gambling. Other companies that contributed to the development of such software were Microgaming and Starnet Communication.

Canada was also one of the first countries to start online casinos. It regulated online gambling activities by forming a body called the Kanhawake Gaming Commission. This commission saw to it that all the practices involved in online gambling were fair and transparent. However, Cryptologic was the first company to start a gaming platform on the Internet and provide cash deposit facilities.

At this time, American players acted as catalysts in this process because of the abundance and ease with which Internet facilities were available in the country. In light of these events, the US government tried to pass a law prohibiting online gambling but failed. This attempt was made again after some time but again the bill failed to get two-thirds majority in the US House of Representatives.

Today, there are more than four hundred online casinos in the world but many more operate illegally. Thus, it can be said that the online casino industry has literally expanded in leaps and bounds within a decade of starting and has become a multi-billion dollar business.

How to Make Money Through Online Casinos

Thursday, October 22nd, 2009

The age of the internet has changed how money can be made. Instead of reporting for work to get a decent pay, some can still do it while working from the home.

Making money through gambling is the same. Instead of going down to the casino, this can also be done in the comforts of one’s home.

Online gambling can be played in various ways similar to those in the regular casino. Players can still place bets and win some money. The odds and payback percentages are the same as regular casinos with some sites offering higher than others.

To be able to play online, there are a few things that are needed.

1. First is a good internet connection. A game can last a long time and it would be awful to be interrupted especially if one is making a lot of money.

2. To those who really like to play, it is a good idea to set some time for it.

3. Some online sites are better than others. To know which site is good, the person can try it out for free.

4. To make sure that the person is playing in a reliable or trusted site, it is best to do some research first before throwing that money around.

There are two ways to play. The first one is web based. That means logging on to the site then playing the games. Games like this can be played in the browser plug-ins such as Macromedia Shockwave, Macromedia Flash or Java. Bandwidth is also needed to be able to get the sound, graphics and animations in the game.

The second is downloaded based online games. This will require the person to get the software to be able to play the games. Compared to the first, this type is faster since everything that the person needs comes is already in the computer and everything can happen without browser support.

The person should be aware that there is a risk whenever downloading something from an untrusted source. Malware or viruses may enter the system which could give the user problems.

New members who signup are given bonuses in the first deposit. These usually match a percentage with how much was deposited to a dollar minimum. Games that are currently offered online are blackjack, roulette, baccarat, poker, slot machines and Pai Gow Poker.

There has been reported to be a lot of fraudulent behavior on the part of online casinos. These establishments have refused to pay the winnings of people through cheating software. This is done in the hope that the player will continue to play and hopefully lose it. Such sites are called rogue casinos which is why it is important to first check the site out to avoid being victimized.

Currently, there is a bill in congress that might stop the proliferation of online gambling. This is because of allegations that it operates outside US law and is run by mobsters, drug dealers and terrorists who exploit on innocent people.

Online gambling is a 6 billion dollar industry that is regulated in more than 40 countries. Before deciding on playing the game, the person has to remember that there are risks involved.

Online gambling can be addictive. So it is best to be careful than losing everything including one’s home.

Horse Betting 101

Wednesday, October 21st, 2009

For those of you just getting started with horse betting, let me go over some basic horse wagering or horse betting methods.

First off is the horse betting bet of the “Exacta” also known as the “Perfecta”.

This is simply picking the first two horses to finish 1st and 2nd in the exact order of finish. If, for example, you liked the #4 and the #3 in a race, you can bet an exacta, yet you would need to figure out which horse you wanted on top to finish first. If you liked the #3 a little more than the #4, then it would be a 3 – 4 exacta.

For the “exacta box” bet. An exacta box simply means that you are betting in a way that either the #3 or the #4 horse can finish in any order, first or second. But, an exacta box will cost $4.00 (using $2. minimum bets). It is just like betting 4-3 for $2, and another bet for 3-4 for $2., but it appears on one mutual ticket if your at the race track betting.

A Quinella is the same as the Exacta Box but it costs $2 instead of $4.

Of course it pays much less than the Exacta. Not every track offers Quinella betting and is geared more towards dog racing, yet you will find it at some horse tracks.

In the next article we will go into more horse betting methods. The author, Michael Hulligan is a horse handicapper. Learn how to pick horses that are in the money over 90% of the time at http://www.5MinuteRacingSystem.com/

How to Play Tight Poker

Wednesday, October 21st, 2009

Poker is a game that requires skill and deception in order to win. By playing it smart, the person can get ahead of the others and despite the fact of losing a few rounds will still come out on top.

Poker can be played many ways and should there be smaller pots because there are only a few playing, this is called Tight Poker.

Tight poker is not a game. It just means that whoever wins won’t be bringing that much home. Should the person still play when this happens? The answer is yes. No matter how small the pot is, that is still money and people will surely still fight for it.

During such games, there will be a lot of checking. This is done in the hopes of a free card that will come out when there is a draw. When this happens, putting in a bet will surely make these players go on the offensive.

In some of these game rooms, several games will be played simultaneously. The player will not know what kind of game is being played until the person is seated. Should the person not like it, then requested to another table is allowed. This can only happen in land-based casinos and not online.

When the player does this online, there are many choices that the person can do. It can already be determined how many players notice the flop. These sites can also reveal the average size of the hand which in turn can help the person to decide whether to play this game or not.

If other people in the table want to raise the stakes by increasing the limits for each bet, as long as the person can handle it then it’s ok. However, if this is too high for the player, it is ok to back out and move to another table.

The rising popularity of poker has made tight poker very rare. This is because almost everyone wants a piece of the action so there are a lot of people who play in the tables or online. Tight poker can be a test to those who want to move higher in the game.

If the player is not able to win here, the chances of wining against people who play for higher stakes is slim. It is best to start small first, to learn the basics and develop it before proceeding any further.

Whenever the play goes to a table, it is best to determine the skill of the other plays. If these people are better then transferring to another table is a good idea. However, should these players be a level lower, then it is best to take advantage of the situation and get rich.

The goal of any form of poker is still to win money. By finding the niche in the several of types of poker out there, the person in time may establish a name just like those who are in the big leagues.

Poker and any other form of gambling is a game of chance. In some hands the person can get lucky and win. In some cases, the person has a bad hand and will have to fold until the next round. Playing it smart can do well for someone who knows what to do in the heat of the action.

A Review Of The Sit N Go Pro Poker Product

Tuesday, October 20th, 2009

In this article we review a product known as Sit N Go Poker Pro and explain the benefits that can be gained from using the system described in it. Along with a handbook that has 41 pages you are also supplied with a hand selection chart as well as 3 videos and a fifteen minute download which if you want can be saved onto an MP3 player. The actual videos that come with this particular product lasts a total of 1 hour 22 minutes each and along with all these there are some other additional items that the author has included as well.

What you will find with this particular product is that it focuses solely on showing you how to play in the no limit hold’em sit & go poker tournaments to be found online. It is through this that you can learn everything that you will need to know about both the long handed and shorthanded versions of this game of poker. However, the actual videos that come with this product the author has chosen only to deal with shorthanded games. Above we have explained a little about what the product is and below we explain why so many of the people who wish to learn how to play this form of poker have chosen to use this one over the many others available.

So what are the reasons exactly for why this particular product for learning how to play Sit N Go Poker is so good?

1. Through the videos, the author, Jonathan Rothman clearly shows you the system that he has devised and uses and which has proved to be very successful for him. As you watch the videos he plays various different hands of poker and shows those watching clearly how he played them. These videos prove very useful for those who are just starting to learn how to play Sit N Go Poker as they help them better to understand how the game should be played.

2. The product allows you to obtain a complete running commentary from its author as he participates in a tournament.

3. Through this product you will learn just how to control your Sit N Go Poker table online and so help you to make your opponents think that you have no understanding and are completely useless at playing this game. Yet what you will find at the end you could find yourself winning large pots of cash as you begin to take a lead in the tournament in which you are playing.

4. This product allows you to learn the ways of playing this kind of poker for fun in the beginning, whilst still offering you the chance to make some money as well. It also allows you to make the decisions on when to play and just how much money you want to put up as your stake without becoming overly worried that you cannot afford to do so.

Above we have shown a few reasons for why this product is becoming increasingly popular with those who want to learn how to or improve their Sit N Go Poker skills. But there are some features of this product which I am not really happy with. One of these being that when showing you how to play the game Jonathan Rothman likes to play in those tables that require a high up front stake to be placed. In a few he has participated in those where he has had to front up between $100 to $500 to participate in a tournament. Certainly for those who are just starting to play this game then these kinds of tournaments are well out of their reach. Also the videos are a little light on certain information and which may find it difficult to understand what exactly Johnathan has done. But he does provide a service where you can e-mail him with your questions and he will provide you with a quick response.

After taking everything into account however, I would certainly recommend the Sit N Go Pro product to anyone who is thinking about learning how to play this form of poker who has being playing it for a short time. As well as all the benefits mentioned above this product also is provided with a 60 day guarantee. But what you may find that after just watching the videos a couple of times and reading through the book as well it can help you to easily get back the money that you initially invested in it, even if you only compete in a few low stake games or tournaments.

Are you someone who would like to learn about how to play Sit N Go Poker correctly and in turn learn about how to dominate the opposition? Then you should visit SNG Guides by clicking on the link shown. Here you can find out more regarding the basics involved relating to playing online Sit N Go Poker.

Fun Facts About Dogs

Monday, October 19th, 2009

• How fast is a dog? Most domestic dogs are capable or reaching speeds up to about nineteen miles per hour when running at full speed, but members of the Greyhound family are the fastest, they’re able to reach speeds up to forty-four miles per hour!

• Have you noticed how dogs lick their private parts a lot? Although this may seem perverse, it serves an important purpose. The dog’s genitourinary tract will not function without the stimulation that comes from frequent licking. Not so bad now – huh!

• Why do dogs love lakes, but not rain? Dogs often hesitate before venturing into the rain. It’s not because they’re afraid of getting wet, but because the rain amplifies sound and hurts their sensitive ears.

• What’s that smell? The canine nose works 1 million times more efficiently than the human nose, but only for smells that are of doggie importance – like BBQ steaks and bacon. The fragrance of flowers, on the other hand, registers only faintly.

• Want to know your dog’s age in human years?” A dog is full grown at twelve months, which would be eighteen in human terms (therefore, when your dog turns one, it turns eighteen in human years). From this point on, to calculate the true age of your dog, figure that every year after that is the equivalent of five human years.

• Ever sensed you dog can read your mind? Studies have shown incredible results indicating dos with telepathic capabilities. In Russia, a team of scientist conducted 1,278 telepathic experiments with dogs, of which 696 were successful. Most of the test involved testing the dog’s ability to read non-verbal and non-physical commands. The scientists believe the odds of that happening by chance would be similar to correctly guessing the correct roulette wheel number over fifty percent of the time…basically a billion to one odds.

• Ever use the saying “He got caught with his tail between his legs”. This saying came about because a frightened dog puts his tail between his legs. Why? Well, they do that to cut off the scent glands in its anal region, a very vulnerable part of the anatomy. Every dog a personal scent that identifies them, so basically that action of dog is the equivalent of insecure humans hiding their faces.

• It’s raining like cats and dogs! An expression that originated because of the overabundance of cats and dogs. It is estimated that there is at least ten thousand cats and dogs born in the United Stated every year (imagine the number for around the whole world!)

• Man or beast – who will win? I’d put my money on beast. Canine muscle mass based on weight highly surpasses ratios compared to humans. It was recorded that a 176 pound Saint Bernard could pull approximately 25 times its own body weight in one try.

• This last one is for all you inseparable pet owners. Dogs have such a strong bond with their owners that between thirty-five and forty-five percent of dog owners talk to their dogs on the phone or through the answering machine.

Stop Poker Cheaters Without Using Software

Sunday, October 18th, 2009

If you’re a casino Poker player, you probably already know the different ways a cheater “works” casino ring games. Snaring extra chips, shorting the pot, rubbernecking, marking cards and avoiding casino fees are the most common. Most are caught because they’re clumsy or the other players are sharp and observant. Angling, strictly speaking, isn’t cheating unless it’s repeated. Bending the rules once may not get your hand killed. Repeating the same angle will.

“Softplaying”, or folding a strong hand, can be a legitimate tactic when it is to your financial advantage. However, softplaying to show “respect” to another player is cheating and should be reported to the tournament director. That’s usually enough to end it, since it’s not financially good for the players doing it.

Really good cheaters, working as a team, are the most serious threat to either casino or online Poker. Given that cheaters don’t usually make the best partners, it’s rare in either type of game, online or offline, for a pair to make a good job of it.

Online games are harder to cheat effectively, simply because elaborate schemes are harder to execute and cardrooms have the actual hand histories available to them to analyze and detect patterns of cheating. So-called “self-collusion” can be detected, even if the double-identity player has two computers, two ISP’s and two identities. Unless he plays his separate identities on separate tables most of the time, a pattern that the cardroom computers will detect will give him away.

Small-time cheaters who exchange info over IM or the phone (but don’t have a common bankroll) are still cheaters, but not a real threat. You’ll be able to “flag” this type of cheating, even if you have no proof, and the machines will do the rest of the figuring. Like the case above, if these minor cheaters are at the same table at the same time, they’ll get caught.

There’s really no need for you to use your own software to detect cheaters. You can bet the cardrooms have much more sophisticated machinery to do that. Any reasonably good firewall and anti-virus program will stop attacks on your computer to “peek” at your hole cards.

Before I go, a word about paranoid conspiracy theories: laugh at them. Okay, that’s three words.

How to Beat the Casinos with Their Own Money – Literally!

Saturday, October 17th, 2009

No – you didn’t read the headline incorrectly. With a little patience and discipline you can take advantage of an on-line casino’s generosity and beat them, quite literally, with their own money.

There are hundreds of casinos plying their trade on-line. It’s pretty much a standard feature of every one that they offer new customers a monetary incentive to open an account with them.

These monetary incentives are generally either a:

·fixed amount of money – for example $100

·match bonus – the casino matches the amount of your initial deposit

·percentage amount – they’ll add a percentage amount on top of your initial deposit

Some of the new account incentive offers are very good indeed. Obviously, the casino is adding the money to new account holders not only to attract new business, but they know that the average player will gamble it all away on the tables and keep coming back for more losing much more that the incentive they’ve given the new player.

Sound business sense from the casino – right?

Not necessarily – the clever casino player can turn the tables and the odds in his (or her) favour by playing “perfect blackjack.”

The bonus incentives come with strings attached – the casinos are not silly enough to allow you to withdraw your bonus money straight away – you have to play it through a few times first so you might lose it!

Each casino has its own terms though a typical example is that they may require you to wager the bonus amount say 20 times. So if they’ve given you $100 as a new account bonus you would have to place wagers to the cumulative value of $2000.

By playing “perfect blackjack” you really can walk off with your initial stake intact and a sum on top courtesy of the money the casino have given you.

The house edge (percentage the casino might expect to win) from blackjack variable depending on conditions but generally in the region of 5%. In other words the casino expects to win $5 for every $100 a player bets.

However – by applying basic blackjack strategy (“perfect blackjack”) you can reduce the house edge to 1% or even less.

Now – back to the $100 new account bonus and $2000 wagering requirement example above. You’ve deposited $100 and got your free $100 making $200 in your account. Under the terms of the bonus incentive, you have to wager $2000.

By utilising basic strategy you reduce the house edge to 1% – thus on average you expect to lose 1% over the course of meeting the wagering requirements (2000 hands assuming flat betting $1 per hand). Each hand you play counts towards the wagering requirement.

1% of $2000 is just $20 – you can cash out with £180 left in your account. You’ve still got your initial $100 and you’ve taken an extra $80 from the casino literally out of their own pocket. Repeat the process at other casinos and you can rack up a tidy amount of money.

Some casinos even give monthly bonus incentives so you have the opportunity to take their money from the every month!

You won’t win every time – sometimes you’ll bust out and lose, other times you might win more than the above example. But by playing blackjack with the application of basic strategy it is entirely possible to literally beat the casino with their own money.

I personally use this technique and make money doing so. It’s possible that you can do the same – but if you give it a try, please never, never gamble with money you cannot afford to lose.

Good luck at the tables!

Getting Started In Online Sports Betting

Friday, October 16th, 2009

So you are ready to begin Online Sports Betting? There are many facets to this Industry whether it is for long term investment or simply for excitement. Below you will find a couple of the topics that you will want to research when you are first getting started.

Money Management

Your bankroll is the one of the most important items that needs to be cared for. No matter how much money you start with there will be little to none left if you do not have some sort of tool or strategy. It is very easy to get caught up in the action, not think straight, and lose when you wouldn’t have normally. The purpose behind money management is to protect you from large losing streaks, and is as important (if not the most) as any of the other below topics. Bet Size and consistency is something that needs to be taken into account as well. Your bet size needs to be consistent with your bank roll to be able to survive in the long term. Your bank needs to be at a size that you can live with if all is lost, especially in the beginning.

Tools and Services

There are many vendors and tools out there that will offer you their services to assist you in picking winners. Some of these come in the forms of software and others as a service called Handicapping, the attempt to predict outcomes through analysis. Here are some tips to look for in those vendors/tools: Ensure it comes with a guarantee; can be used for all sports; make sure it is easy to use; look for a successful history (Review the history provided, Review testimonials, and search the web); it should not require the use of ploys and should provide the ability to choose which bets to make; avoid systems and handicappers that “Can’t Lose”.

The Site

When finding a site there some general guidelines that will help you find a reputable operation. They have several years of successful operation, speedy transfers and offer same day payouts, an English speaking staff as well as customer friendly policies. They should have the latest technology for speed and accuracy, and have Vegas style rules, check the fine print. Similar to handicapping and software you should check for negative press about the site. You should also have decided by now on which sport you would like to wager, not all sites offer all sports.

Funding

Once all of the above is complete you will need to determine a way to fund your account. There are several options which each site may or may not have. Most sites will take bank transfers, ACH, Credit Cards (depending where you live), and there will also be payment services from other sites such as Neteller, ePassporte, etc.

Your expectations around winning and losing is crucial, you can’t expect to win ever bet. Discipline needs to take a front seat when sports betting inorder to make it profitable in the long run, professionals know this. Also, please follow the local laws when placing wagers.
